Graduate Liberal Studies presents a live jazz concert and open session of the course "Survey of Jazz Styles" with professor Noah Baerman in Russell House. Noah and a jazz combo will perform (with Noah on piano).

Attendees interested in learning more about Graduate Liberal Studies are encouraged to arrive at 6 p.m. for an information session with Glenn Knight, Assistant Director of GLS.

The first hour of the class (6:30-7:30 p.m.) will be a discussion and demonstration, followed by a performance of music exemplifying multiple jazz styles. The event is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception.

A note from Professor Noah Baerman: "I am excited to be able to share some of the great music of the jazz tradition with my students and the community at large. It's a great opportunity to use the intimate format to explain and demonstrate elements of jazz that some find intimidating or confusing but with a bit of up-close access can actually be well-understood even by laypeople."
